What the code situation actually is in Nebraska
The Nebraska State Building Code at Neb. Rev. Stat. 71-6403 is on the 2018 IBC, adopted by the Legislature and last amended by LB 131 in 2021. Section 71-6406 lets a county or city run its own code if it generally conforms, and if a jurisdiction does not update within two years of a state update the state code applies by default. Lincoln runs the 2021 IBC with local amendments, ahead of the state. Energy is the 2018 IECC with ASHRAE 90.1-2016, effective 1 July 2020. We confirm the Omaha edition with the city rather than assuming the state code applies there.

What it takes to work in Nebraska
We put this in writing because a subcontractor who is vague about their standing in a state is a subcontractor you have to check up on.
Contractor registration, Nebraska Department of Labor. Nebraska requires registration before performing construction work, and subcontractors are explicitly named in the statute. There is no trade classification for our scopes. Registration is with the Department of Labor and ours is in progress. Omaha runs its own building licences through Permits and Inspections and we are confirming directly with the city which class, if any, covers fireproofing and insulation rather than assuming one does.
State registration in progress with the Department of Labor. We open in 2027. Until then we are reading drawings, pricing scope and building the schedule so the first Nebraska job runs like the hundredth.
The listed system at the specified thickness, readings logged as we go, and a closeout package the special inspector can work from. That standard travels with the crew, and it is the same one running in Texas since 1977.

Do you sub the work out in a new state?
No. Our own crews and our own equipment travel. That is the whole point of the way this company is built, and it is why the install standard does not change at a state line.
What states do you work in?
Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Arizona, Minnesota and Wisconsin, out of Round Rock, Texas. We travel for the right project and we are prequalified with national and regional general contractors across the territory.
Are you prequalified, bonded and insured?
Yes. We carry commercial general liability, auto, workers compensation and umbrella coverage, and we go through GC prequalification regularly. Send us your prequal packet and insurance requirements with the bid documents and we will return them completed.
