How the company got here
The company starts
Bahl Fireproofing opens as a fireproofing subcontractor in Central Texas, spraying structural steel for local general contractors.
One state, then four
The work spreads out from the Austin corridor into Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston, San Antonio and the Panhandle, then across the state line into Oklahoma and Kansas.
One subcontractor instead of four
Intumescent, K-13, spray foam and Core-Fill come in behind SFRM, so a GC can hand the whole fire protection and insulation package to one company.
Six states, still family-owned
Round Rock, Texas, working across Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Arizona, Minnesota and Wisconsin, on our own job tracking platform, with the same family running it.

Ross Bahl
Ross has been in the industry nearly 40 years, growing up with his family in the business before him. Ross and his team of dedicated experts work on bid requests daily, and manage daily operations across the entire country. He knows the code, answers the phone, and even makes time to see his grandkids.
Reach out to him directly with any questions or bid requests you have, he is always ready to help.
What actually makes us different
We document instead of asserting
Thickness and density readings per ASTM E605, logged by member, daily. DFT gauged per coat on intumescent. The special inspector confirms what is already in our log rather than discovering it.
We say no to the wrong product
If the spec calls for a system that will not do what the drawings need, you hear it during the bid, not during the inspection. That conversation has cost us work. It has never cost a client a rating.
We use our own words carefully
K-13 is not fireproofing and we will not let it be sold as fireproofing. NFCA is a membership, not an accreditation. A rating is time under a standard test fire, not a guarantee. Precision in the language is precision on the job.
You can reach the owner
Ross reads every bid request that comes through this site and answers his own phone. We built our own job tracking software so your PM gets production counts the same day, but the software is not what answers for the job. A person is, and it is the person whose name is on the building.
What the job looks like from your side
Prequal and bid
Send drawings and the spec sections. We return a number, the exclusions in writing, and your prequal packet completed.
Submittals
Product data, listed designs, thickness schedules and assembly documentation, packaged once for all five services.
Mobilization
We show up on the date we committed to, with the crew size the production rate assumed, and we tell you early if that changes.
Install and log
Readings taken and logged as we go, not reconstructed afterward. Areas protected, other trades sequenced around.
Inspection
The owner-engaged special inspector works from our log. Nothing is a surprise to either of us.
Closeout
Thickness maps, batch records, bond samples and daily reports handed over as one package.
What we hold, and what we call it
International Cellulose Corporation licenses the contractors allowed to install K-13, and Bahl holds that license. It is a manufacturer license, which means ICC trained our crews on their product and stands behind the install. It is not a code-body certification, and we will not describe it as one.
We install to published listed designs from the major SFRM manufacturers and hold their current product letters. We never write "certified" for spray-applied fireproofing, because no body certifies contractors for it. What exists is the listed assembly, and we install to it.
Thin-film and epoxy intumescent systems are trained and approved product by product, because the application, the film build and the topcoat compatibility differ between them. We carry the training for the systems we bid.
Texas is our home state and we have worked here since 1977. Arizona is licensed through the Registrar of Contractors. Oklahoma, Kansas, Minnesota and Wisconsin are registered and working. New Mexico, Arkansas, Missouri, Iowa and Nebraska are in licensing for spring 2027.
Bahl is a member of the National Fireproofing Contractors Association. Membership is exactly that: a trade body of the contractors who install this work. It is not an accreditation and nobody should sell it to you as one, including us.
Commercial general liability, commercial auto, workers compensation and umbrella coverage, with certificates issued to your requirements. We go through GC prequalification regularly. Send your packet with the bid documents and it comes back completed.
Never "certified" for SFRM. NFCA is a membership, not an accreditation. Every line above is confirmed by Ross before it publishes.
Work you can drive past

Dick's House of Sport
Multiple fireproofing products across the store, protecting the structural steel with fire-resistive systems installed to the listed design.

Celina Fire Station No. 3
A working fire station, fireproofed by the crew whose trade it is. Exposed and concealed steel, installed to the specified ratings.

Kappa Kappa Gamma
Called in to make sure it was done right. We handled the full fireproofing scope on the building, start to finish.

Melissa High School
Every beam and column in our scope got the specified system at the specified thickness, on a school schedule that doesn't move.
Questions we get
Is fireproofing required by code in Texas, Oklahoma, or Kansas?
Most commercial jobs in these states (and everywhere else) require some level of fireproofing to pass inspection. Codes change, but we stay up to date so you don't have to. If you need help deciphering the latest rules, just ask.
What's the difference between fireproofing and firestopping?
Fireproofing protects the building's structure; firestopping is about sealing gaps in walls and floors to slow fire and smoke spread. Both matter for safety and code compliance, but they're different scopes of work.
Why should I trust Bahl Fireproofing for my project?
We've been at this for decades and take pride in doing things right the first time. No shortcuts, no upsell, just honest work from a team that knows the local codes and stands by their word.
How much does commercial fireproofing cost?
Prices vary by material, thickness, access, and building size. No two jobs are the same. We give honest, upfront bids, no surprises or gotcha charges later. Give us your drawings, and we'll get you a real number.
What states do you work in?
Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Arizona, Minnesota and Wisconsin, out of Round Rock, Texas. We travel for the right project and we are prequalified with national and regional general contractors across the territory.
Are you prequalified, bonded and insured?
Yes. We carry commercial general liability, auto, workers compensation and umbrella coverage, and we go through GC prequalification regularly. Send us your prequal packet and insurance requirements with the bid documents and we will return them completed.
Do you self-perform, or do you sub the work out?
Self-perform, on all five services. That is the reason a GC can hand us fireproofing, intumescent, K-13, spray foam and Core-Fill on one job and get one submittal package, one schedule and one company responsible for all of it.
How fast can you turn around a bid?
Most bids go back inside a few days of receiving complete drawings and the spec sections. Tell us the bid due date and we will tell you honestly whether we can hit it before you count on us.
