Adoption is pure local option and unincorporated areas may enforce nothing at all. Kansas City is on the 2018 IBC with the 2021 IECC, St. Louis on the 2018 IBC and 2018 IECC, Springfield on the 2018 IBC with the 2018 IECC. That makes Missouri the easiest state in our territory to enter and the hardest to bid blind, because the edition has to be confirmed with the authority having jurisdiction on every single job. We do that before we price, not after. Zones 3A, 4A and 5A. Twenty four northern counties are 5A. Dunklin and Pemiscot in the Bootheel moved to 3A in the 2021 IECC. Everything else, St. Louis, Kansas City, Springfield and Columbia included, is 4A. The credential **No statewide contractor licence exists.** Missouri has no statewide construction contractor licence for our scope. The only statewide construction licence is electrical. Requirements are municipal and attach to business licensing rather than competency. One warning worth putting in writing: a Fire Protection Contractor licence in Kansas City covers sprinkler and suppression, not spray-applied fire-resistive materials, so do not assume it reaches our scope. Where we are No state licence exists for our scope. We open in 2027. Until then we are reading drawings, pricing scope and building the schedule so the first Missouri job runs like the hundredth. What does not change The listed system at the specified thickness, readings logged as we go, and a closeout package the special inspector can work from. That standard travels with the crew, and it is the same one running in Texas since 1977. > No state code at all here. > *Three editions in three cities.* Missouri leaves it entirely to the locals, so Kansas City, St. Louis and Springfield can each be on a different IBC edition with a different energy code behind it.
